November Kinder and Prepatoria

My name is Amanda and I am the Kinder, Prepa, and Primero teacher (along with the other Amanda). God brought me to Destino through a series of events and people and the past 2 1/2 months here have been amazing. God is working in me, in the ministry, and in the hearts of the kids at the school. I, with another Amanda from Kentucky, teach the preschool (kinder), kindergarten (prepatoria), and first grade (primero) classes. Thank you for your giving of prayer to the students, money for the sponsorships, and love for God. I just began reading Crazy Love by Francis Chan and when I read these following sentences I thought of you all. I do not know you, but I am thankful for what you are doing. And I now that it is making Jesus smile! Francis Chan says-- "I believe He wants us to love others so much that we go to extremes to help them. I believe He wants us to be known for giving- of our time, our money, and our abilities- and to start a movement of "giving" churches. In so doing, we can alleviate the suffering in the world and change the reputation of His bride in America." Thank you for what you are doing. I (and the other Amanda) will try each month to post as many pictures as possible. Please comment on the blog or e-mail me if you would like additional pictures and I will do what I can. It is important what you are doing and I can't thank you enough-- but I know God will bless you! Enjoy the pictures from the first few months of the 2009-2010 school year at Destino!

Kinder (Preschool)
In Kinder we have been learning about “My Classroom and My Body.” We are about to begin a unit on “Toys.” Kinder has amazed me in the past 8-weeks or so. They have already changed and matured so much. The first few weeks were hard as this was their first time being in a setting such as a classroom. Now that the students understand the idea of school their behavior has been improving each week and thus their learning is increasing. Continue to pray for these students as they are learning how to understand Amanda and I (with our very limited Spanish skills).

Prepatoria (Kindergarten)

Prepatoria has been studying about “My School and My Senses.” They are about to begin a unit on “At the Fair.” This class is really fun and the students have great personalities. Since they already understand school classroom management has been a lot easier and we have had a lot of fun learning new songs in English (both songs about God—they really enjoy “My God is so Big” and random songs in English like “I’m bringing home a baby bumble bee…”). Pray for these students that they will continue to be loving and kind to one another, continue learning English at a great pace, and that they can begin to understand the love of Christ.

  1. Amanada,
Hi! My name is Jeffrey and I am a member of a group sponsoring Gaby and Brayan. I teach a 3rd grade Sunday School class. I would like to introduce Gaby and Brayan to this class and have them get together a care package for them to enjoy at Christmas. Please tell us about them - siblings, home life, favorite things to do and eat. I would also like to get sizing information so we can get them play clothes. The best way to reach me is via email: jeffreyholder@bellsouth.net

Thank you and God Bless You!
